Autumn Term 1
September 2026
Over the past two weeks, we have been super busy in Cherry Class! We have been settling into our new classroom and getting to know all the different learning stations.
We have been learning all about Goldilocks and the Three Bears and are now beginning to innovate our stories, creating our own exciting characters and adding our own creative ideas.
In Maths, we have been learning how to find one more and one less than a given number. We have also been working really hard during our phonics lessons and practising our sounds and skills every day.

Maple Class have settled brilliantly into Year One and have been busy completing their Learning Journey's, exploring and learning in the classroom. We have been working together to make models of The Three Bear's Cottage reading stories to each other, designing and making models and characters to retell our story, writing sentences about our stories and much, much more!

This week in Cherry Class, we have spent lots of time learning to use a part-part-whole model. This will form the key understanding for our learning about addition. We have worked super hard, both during our lessons and in Explore and Learn.
In the Creative Area, we have been working hard to make a toy with a moving part using a split pin.
We have also been innovating our stories from Goldilocks and the Three Bears by changing the setting and the characters. Some really good examples have included Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, Goldilocks and the Three Caterpillars and Goldilocks and the Three Spiders.
What a week! We are so proud of all the hard work and creativity we have seen!

October 2026
This week has been a busy end to the term in Cherry Class! We have been working super hard on our writing all term and have finished by writing our own innovated stories, which have been amazing! We have also practised weaving on looming boards in DT and begun creating maps of our local area, including our school.
All the adults in Cherry Class are incredibly proud of the hard work the children have put in throughout the first term. Well done to all the children.
