Charity Days & Events

We regularly support local and national charities through a wide range of activities, such as sponsored events, donations from holding mufti days, cake sales and retiring collections at events such as our Harvest and Christmas Celebrations.

Charities we regularly support

Red Nose Day March

Red Nose Day is all about celebrating being a superhero for yourself or someone else. We are choosing to join schools across the UK in ‘Donate to Dress Up’ for a dressing-up day to remember! We had a variety of superheroes in school, including Superman, Wonder Woman, doctors, vets, firefighters, builders and other local community heroes.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Mrs Maczka and Miss Gardiner have completed The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge raising money for our library project. They have raised over £415 which will go towards buying new books for our library.

To raise the money, we'll take part in an extremely challenging adventure. The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

They conquered The Yorkshire Three Peaks in 11 hours and 44 minutes, and apparently it is the hardest thing they've ever done and they are aching but very happy.

We are all so proud of you both......👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

One-Mile Run

Last year Miss Afonso ran 100 miles in a month and raised £850 for the Alzheimer’s Society. This year she will be running the London Half Marathon to support Tommy’s Charity charity, whose aim is to find causes and treatments to save babies’ lives, as well as providing trusted pregnancy and baby loss information and support. For more information on this charity, please see www.tommys.org

Miss Afonso wanted to include all the children of The Avenue Infant School in this experience, so she organised a sponsored one-mile run with each class - see the photos below!

Thank you from Miss Afonso

"I personally just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated! Because of all your generosity, we were able to raise a huge £242!!! It’s going to make the biggest difference to so many families, so thank you so, so much. 👏🏼

Now to push myself and hopefully make all the children proud!
