Year 1 have started the term learning all about Stick Man. They have had great fun making Stick Man's family characters and the family tree for him to live in. They have impressed us all with their fantastic writing when they are retelling the story of Stick Man.

Year 1 have been focusing this week on addition and subtraction. They have been  using these methods when playing games and forming number bonds using the tens frames. 

This week in Cherry Class, we have been innovating our Stick Man story by changing the characters and setting to make the story our own! We have also been learning about Captain Scott of the Antarctic and his expedition to the South Pole. The children explored what items and equipment he would have needed to take with him and imagined what it would have been like to reach the South Pole. In Maths, we have been working super hard on subtraction and continuing to develop our addition skills

Year 1 are enjoying learning about Captain Scott they have had great discussions about his voyage and they enjoyed debating about the reasons he participated with it.

Maple class had a great time exploring space in PE last week. We learnt how to safely jump through space doing half and quarter turns.

Maple class were excellent detectives at identifying accurate sources in history. They were able to present these findings to the  class and the class voted if they agreed.
