Spring Term 1
January 2026
Yesterday in Science Hazel Class started learning about the suitability of materials. We used our story- The 3 little pigs to discuss the properties of materials and why some of the pig's houses fell down and others didn't. We then completed our own investigation using the materials in the classroom to try and find the most suitable material that couldn't be blown down by the mischievous wolf!
Beech class have had a great week exploring the audiobooks on the Oxford Owl website to practise our comprehension skills. We have also been using our knowledge of materials and their properties from our Science lessons to design a suitable house for a pig from The 3 little pigs. We have used lots of super vocabulary like rigid, transparent, flexible and sturdy to explain our choices of building materials.
Beech class had a super music lesson. We learnt to sing the song first, then worked really hard to play along with our Glockenspiels. We helped each other by saying which note was next and had so much fun!
Hazel class had an excellent morning last week, earning all about how to live a healthy lifestyle! They absolutely loved all of the different activities and enjoyed learning lots of new things.

Beech class had a really fun time on Thursday, learning all about how to be healthy. There were lots of different activities to join in with and we showed great team work and listening skills. You made us very proud!
February 2026
Today in Science Hazel Class continued their learning about changing materials. We explored a range of things including cornflour, playdough, ice and paper and observed whether heat changed them or not. We then discussed whether three changes were reversible or irreversible.
