Why do we have a School Council?
Welcome to our School Council
Our pupils are the most important members of our school community and at The Avenue Infant School we like our children to have a strong voice within our school. The purpose of the school council is to encourage children to help in making important decisions regarding improvements to our school and get involved in issues that concern them in and around school.

Welcome to the new school council. They have already started their new project this term and are doing an incredible job.
Autumn 2023
The Avenue Christmas Choir did an outstanding job singing at the care home today. They sang beautifully and we were so proud of them. We had a great morning.
The Avenue school choir had a great time singing to residents at Park Care Home.
Everybody was so happy to see the children and lots of them joined in with the singing. We were also surprised to see Santa visiting the Park Care Home.
Summer 2024
School council did a fantastic job decorating their new worry box. They can't wait to introduce it to the playground and help children with their worries.
Newsletters
Our School Council has been busy producing their first newsletter.
What does the School Council do?
Every term we run an election to vote for two new representatives from each class. They meet regularly with Mrs Bolter to speak about what their class are interested in or any issues they have. They will also give feedback to their class about what was discussed at the council meeting to help keep every child informed.
Every member gets a chance to speak at the meetings and when we have finished, we vote on the best ideas and then start to implement them.
