This afternoon, Hazel Class started a new Design and Technology topic. We explored the different parts of a moving vehicle, we discussed the different ways in which vehicles move and which components are essential to make them operate. We learnt lots of new exciting vocabulary including; wheel, axle, chassis and body. I wonder if your child can remember what they are?

This afternoon, Hazel Class worked as a team to start creating a class map. We discussed lots of physical geographical features and took it in turns to add them to our map. Next week we will be working on adding a range of human geographical features. 🌏

This afternoon, Hazel Class continued their DT learning and enjoyed learning more about the different parts of vehicles. First we checked our understanding of a wheel and axel by making them with K-Nex. Then we began designing our own vehicle to make next week!

This afternoon Hazel Class finished their DT topic by making, testing and evaluating their vehicles! The children worked hard to attach their wheels and axels to their vehicles and had lots of fun testing them!

Beech class worked well as teams to build their sail boat, make sure it could float and test how far they could make it move with their homemade fans. We learnt that the fans made the air push the sail which propelled the boat across the water. Great work!

This afternoon in Art, Hazel Class have enjoyed exploring a range of media to create shade in their artwork. They used sketching pencils, charcoal, oil pastel, chalk and crayon and were interested to see which was the easiest to create shade with. Next week we will be using these skills to start creating our own ‘still life’ art.

Yesterday in Art, Hazel Class created their own still life artwork using the sketching and shading skills we have been practicing in the last few weeks. They used a variety of objects to create their pictures, we were extremely impressed at their concentration and skill when completing their pictures!
