Information for Visitors

We hope that your visit to our school will be enjoyable, informative and safe.

Please help us by reading and complying with the guidance below, which is intended to ensure your health and safety whilst at The Avenue Infant School. If you have any questions after reading this, please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff to help you.

Nothing is more important to us than the safety and welfare of our pupils.  We take rigorous steps to ensure that our children stay safe and do not come to any harm.  

All adults have a duty of care towards the welfare of children and are responsible for:

Safeguarding Guidance

Adults visiting or working at our school play an important part in the life of the school. On arrival, you will be given a copy of the safeguarding leaflet for visitors and volunteers.

If you have any concerns whilst you are working or visiting the school please report these concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or a deputy DSL. You can contact them through the school office.

Signing In on Arrival

All visitors and contractors coming in to the school must report immediately to the school reception on arrival. Please sign in and wear your visitor lanyard provided at all times. If you are working with children, supervised or unsupervised you will be asked to produce your DBS certificate or details thereof, together with photographic proof of identification, ie passport or driving licence. Without this you may not be granted access.

Please return your visitor badge to the school office and sign out before you leave.

IT and Internet Access

If you require Internet access for your visit please ask the school office who will provide you with the login details for visitors.

Photographs

Visitors are prohibited from taking photographs whilst on the school site.

Fire and Evacuation

The fire alarm is a continuous bell. On hearing the alarm, you must  leave the building by the nearest exit. The assembly points are located in the front playground, ensuring that you are recorded present by the administration staff.

Do not take any personal risks, and you must not re-enter the building until told to do so.

Health and Safety

Contractors must ensure that they are fully conversant with the safety rules and regulations to be observed by contractors working on site.

As a visitor to our school it is essential that you follow any health and safety guidelines that my apply. By doing so, you will assist us in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Smoking

The Avenue Infant School operates a no smoking policy. Please do not smoke anywhere on the school site.

Parking

There is no on site parking at The Avenue Infant School for staff and visitors. Please park safely on the roads surrounding the school, ensuring that you do not block any of our local residents' driveways or paths.
