Starting School in Reception - September 2023

Welcome to The Avenue Infant School

We are delighted that your child has been offered a place at The Avenue Infant School and will be joining our Reception year group in September.  We are looking forward to meeting you and your child in the coming months and would like to formally welcome you to The Avenue Infant School family.

Starting school is a very exciting time for all involved but also can cause some anxiety.  We aim to introduce your child to school life slowly and carefully to ensure a smooth and happy transition to school for everyone involved.

We are looking forward to meeting you and your child and hope that you will both be able to attend the 'getting to know us' dates.

Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see what is going on at The Avenue!

Could your child be eligible to receive extra funding?

Your child could be eligible to receive further funding which we can use to support your child, this is known as Pupil Premium funding. The funding is used by the school to support your child, for example, free school trips, provide learning resources for home, pastoral support if required and additional learning support for your child's individualised learning needs.

This funding can really help make a significant difference to your child's progress.

If you are in receipt of the following your child could be eligible:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit Only (with income to £16,190) with no element of Working Tax Credit
  • National Asylum Seekers Support
  • Guarantee Element of the State Pension Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance (income related)

All children at The Avenue are eligible for free school meals, so you will need to apply separately for Pupil Premium Funding for the school to provide additional support and resources if you are eligible.
