Starting at The Avenue

This section is aimed at parents/carers of children due to start in Reception in September or children joining us throughout the year in any year group. We hope that you might find this information helpful in answering any questions you may have regarding your child starting school and help in preparing your child for their transition to school.

Information for Parents/Carers of Children starting September 2021

A letter has been emailed out to all parents/carers regarding important information and key dates for your diary.  We are looking forward to meeting you and your child and hope that you will both be able to attend the 'getting to know us' dates in your letter.  

New Parent's Information Evenings

We are holding a short information session that will provide you with lots of information that you will need to help with the starting school process. To ensure this evening is as COVID- secure as possible, please can we ask:

  • Only 1 parent to attend per family
  • NO children to attend

In school meetings

Between 2nd and 7th September we are offering in school meetings for you and your child to meet the teacher individually and see the classroom.  The time slots for booking will be available in July and will be sent to you by email.

Starting School in September

Our September plans are assuming all Covid restrictions on schools have been lifted, if this is not the case timings are likely to be changed.

Thursday 2nd to Tuesday 7th September In school meetings
Wednesday 8th to Friday 17th September Children start part-time 9.30am to 11.30am
From Monday 20th September Part-time & lunch 9.30am to12.30pm
From Monday 27th September Full time 8.50am to 3.10pm

Meet the Reception team 2021-2022    




Miss Cotter — My name is Miss Cotter and I am going to be the teacher in Oak Class. I love reading stories and singing songs.

Miss Morris — My name is Miss Morris and I am the teacher in Willow Class. I’m very arty and love to be creative.


Mrs Duke – My name is Mrs Duke and I am going to be working in Willow Class with Miss Morris. I love singing and playing games.

Mrs Hatfield – My name is Mrs Hatfield and I normally work in Oak Class. You’ll also find me outside in The Den making things and acting out stories.

Mrs Day – My name is Mrs Day and I will be working in Oak Class. I’ll also be outside in The Den sometimes.
